With my older dog in training, I asked the trainer if that wasn't really just teaching them to do something wrong in order to get a treat for stopping the bad behavior. I KNOW that they are smart enough to figure that out! She said to just be very clear that you're treating for the good behavior.

That just helps me not dwell on the negative behavior.

Hang in there!!

Thanks for the advice first of all. This above statement really helped me out bc I was wondering the same thing. Whenever she went over to the pee pad and started tearing it, I would scold her. Then I was wondering if now she was going to be afraid to go to the pee pad.

Ahhh I just want her to be potty trained already, I know it will take lots of time and effort but it's so frustarting to take her out for a long time and all she does is play with everything then I bring her back in and she pees immediately.

The weird thing is that whenever I leave her at home alone for long periods of time she NEVER goes potty in the room I leave her in and when I take her out she goes immediately It is only when she is hanging out with me at home that she pees on the floor.

The struggle continues...HA I can't stay mad at her when I look down at her sleeping next to me right now...

Thank goodness our little furbabies are so precious and loving that they make the hard times worth it.
