The scissors should be pointing downward toward the floor when scissoring legs...If you stand the dog on the table, hold one front foot up in the air, comb hair toward back of leg and trim it off to the desired length it will then give you a line to go by for the rest of the leg...

On the back legs hold one back leg up in the air and slightly extend the leg behind the dog, comb hair toward the front leg and trim as you did the front leg...

This is very difficult to explain...hope you all get the idea!
