I love auctions!!!! What a bid, but pretty cake.....
My family always holds a "pie auction" (for ALLLLL the family members and friends) when someone is in need of financial help......They are FUN....course, we don't get into the hundreds per pie....but it is fun and we raise money for the ones in need.
I remember one auction, my DH bid $50 for a home-made coconut cream pie but after the auction, he went to get it and someone had already taken it....the person in charge of that auction, needless to say, was never the one in charge again.....course, the $50 then just became a donation...and we went back to once you won it, it was handed to you! (works a lot better)
I also remember once when my grandfather was alive, he would be outrageously and then whatever he won, he wouldn't take it, but put it back up there for more bidding. (awwwww...my grandpa)
