No one vaccination protocol will work for everyone. It's all about the risk factors your dog is exposed to. I try to maintain a low-risk profile for mine so vaccinations beyond the 'core' vaccines aren't necessary. Also, many vaccines don't need to be administered yearly as the dog will have a sufficient anti-body titer count to make the annual booster unnecessary. This will vary from dog to dog so many vets play it safe and do the annual booster. In most states, the rabies vaccination, by law, must be the 3 year type so annual rabies booster is not recommended. There is a lot of good info on the web on this subject so don't go by what I or any one person says. Do your own research and have a discussion with your vet on the appropriate vaccination schedule for your dog.
