I work in elem. special ed at our school. When we have a child that has an offensive odor on them, we go to the school counselor who takes care of the problem. He calls the parents and talks to the student. Many lower-income families only buy their child one pair of cheap sneakers. Wearing the same shoes day after day, not changing socks, not taking a bath, causes a nose-burning stench. Dirty hair is also another cause of the nose-burning smell. These are the two odors that we have found to be the most offensive. Obviously, if an animal is urinating on a child's clothes, it would be extremely smelly. We actually encountered that one, too, several years ago.
