Anyone can pay money to be a Featured Breeder. I think it might bite into new membership but not by much, which will be good if it's only people looking to sell puppies. It's an outlet to irresponsible breeders period and buyer's have a false sense of security. YT is a big forum and influential to the breed. YT obviously contributes to the Yorkie community wonderful information by caring people, but the contributation to overpopulation should be thought about. JMO. |
I agree with this completely. I'm a member of a maltese forum that does not allow the sell of animals on there. And I'm a member of another forum that doesn't even allow you to mention your kennel or another breeder at all..no form of advertising or talking about breeders is allowed at all. I don't like that YT has puppy sales on here at all. For one thing, it gives many buyers a false sense of security...
And YT doesn't make any money from the regular for sale section. While you have to donate to be a featured breeder or to sell clothing and such, you don't have to donate (or even have posted before) to place a for-sale ad. I just don't see the point in having puppy for-sale sections...
