The Yorkie has traditionally always had a docked tail. The Yorkshire Terrier Club or America and AKC calls for the Yorkshire Terrier to have a tail docked to medium length in the standard. Some countries have made it illegal to dock tails or crop ears so you'll see undocked yorkies more frequently as well.
