Default cleft

As a breeder, sometimes I may sound heartless...but I have faced many situations where difficult decisions must be made to prevent undo suffering. I have found most all cleft puppies have other health issues..so I have never tried to save any...but I have had a number of friends try, only to see the puppy struggle in the care of a vet away, from its dam..then die or grow so weak it needs to be put down...I feel the same about a puppy born disemboweled..it seems simple to put them back, but infection is almost always the result and the puppy suffers.
Some clefts are so mild, the pup may have a chance, but I have not found it to be so in 35 yrs...
