There just was a thread of the Mom having 7 pups - 1 was a cleft baby. The owner did what he thought was the best thing for the pup - he called his Vet and he surrendered the pup to the Vet, whom is caring and feeding for him 24/7 - once old and strong enough, she will preform the corrective surgery, but the pup now belongs to her, which I am sure she is going to be an excellent Mom.
Maybe this is a route you should go, permitting your Vet would want to take this on?
