I have seen other people who let their Yorkies out to potty in the front yard, and the dogs will go back in the house without a second thought. That being said, ours will disappear without looking back if she realizes that she is free. I would never let mine off leash. She runs so fast and so far that we have spent over an hour looking for her in our neighborhood. I don't know what the difference is. However the people whose dogs go out without a problem have more than one.
