THis web cam works by using your computer router and it allows you to view from another location. ( My router is upstairs. The webcam is downstairs facing Murphy's x-pen. I can see what he is doing when I am at work. I log on to a password site.) The only negative thing about this camera is you cannot see anything if it is dark in the room.
I hope I didn't confuse use. It was fairly easy to set up. I did have to call technical assistance. They were very helpful.
