Right now he is on the enclosed front porch which isnt small but he doesnt have a lot of room to roam and because we are gone to work all day he uses the bathroom there, which is making our house unliveable! When we are home with him he lets us know when he has to go outside so I guess he is halfway potty trained. Does anyone else leave their yorkies outside while they are gone? Do they seem to be happier? Buddy loves being outside... I just wish we had another dog to keep him company.. but my husband says "no more lap dogs!" What's a gal to do? | I would not even consider leaving him outside all day and even just letting him outside to do it buisness alone. There are many dangers from hawks, snakes, coyotes and another other animal wildlife. Also, more of a chance for fleas and ticks, heartworm and someone could steal him. Yorkies are not outside dogs. Does he use wee wee pads on the front porch? If he messes on the porch clean it each day so that the odor will not be there. I know you work and it is hard. Do you have a neighbor or friend that can check on him during the day? I would tell your Hubby/Mother no way is he going outside all day. Do you leave a radio on for him to keep him company? How hot does the front porch get in the summer months? You have to be careful with the porch heating up when he is there. You mentioned he loves to be outside. I guessing he does but only for short times to break up the time spend inside. Let us know how you and Buddy are doing. |
