Althought I agree with everyone that any tiny dog (Yorkie, Maltese, Chi, Pom, etc.) should NEVER EVER under any circumstances be left along outside and unsupervised, there's a nice way to get that message aross to the OP without being nasty.

To the OP -- if you're still reading this thread, please respond to us and let us know if you and your husband have made a decision. PLEASE reconsider leaving your little one outside all day. It really is NOT safe. Yorkies are very popular right now and there have been so many cases of them being stolen with their owners in plain view ... so imagine what could happen to one that is left outside all alone. In addition to theft, some kids/teens are just plain mean and might try to hurt your dog. Believe me, I've heard of people hurting cats and dogs before "just for fun" and I hear it on the news all the time.

In addition to people, there are animals that can injure our babies. Hawks and other types of large birds, squirrels, raccoons, big dogs and even cats can and do pose a serious threat and will do real damage, probably even kill your dog, if given the opportunity.

There's also the weather to consider. Rain, snow, lots of wind, extreme heat, etc. Yorkies are prone to getting overheated very quickly EVEN IN THE SHADE. All dogs require access to fresh, clean water all day long. Being outside, your dog's water bowl could easily gets bugs and/or debris in it and it would then be unsanitary to drink. I also read once that certain types of grass and plants/flowers can make these little guys extremely sick!!

So please, from one Yorkie lover to another, reconsider leaving your precious little one outside. It's so unsafe. There are many solutions to this and if you're willing to listen, I can gladly post some here (I'm sure many others would love to as well) or I can PM you. I wish you and your little boy all the best of luck.
I agree 100%!!
