I believe as with children in carseats, backseat is probably the safest route, but I feel very comforble with the console seat as well. I know there is another brand that makes a seat very similar to the Snoozers, but the sides are even a little higher. I can't remember the name of that company, but I know someone here recently bought one of those. All the carseats are pricey, but well worth the safety they provide. Sometimes you can find good sales on Ebay with free shipping, too.
