I see so many of us as the problem. I mean you can close down a puppymill, and two more will pop up. Until people buy from reputable breeders and not pet stores and websites, puppy mills will continue. Many websites are just dog brokers who buy their dogs from puppymills. I see the byb as one step up from a puppymill breeder. Perhaps their dogs aren't as badly mistreated, but so many are still mistreated because the breeder isn't knowledgeable about breeding. When you try to inform others what to look for in a good breeder, many people take offence and say they got their dog from such and such and he has no problems. I see people encouraging others to buy from bad breeders all the time. So I'm anxious to see what Oprah sees as the solution to this horrible mess. |
