I tried cookies but it does not make him walk just sit and one time he rolled over in the middle of the street doing tricks for the cookies. ha, ha...you see I have a mess on my hands.

This might seem harsh, but what if you occasionally left him? Do you think then he'd become jealous that he didn't get to come and would then WANT to come on the walks?

ETA: I still like my original idea best!
