Has anyone owned a Yorkie for years and not had any major health issues?
Is expecting to find a healthy Yorkie unrealistic? So far it seems as if I am looking for a needle in a haystack.

I was afraid to buy a purebred for this reason. I thought mutts were healthier, but after much research I found this not to be true. I think you are wise, to be careful. Have you checked with the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America for referrals?
http://www.ytca.org/breeder4.html They are required to do health screening. This is such in important topic; I would hope people would do business only those breeders who do health screening. It is simply devastating to have a dog that has one of these major heath threats. We really need to support good breeders, and there is the side effect of getting other good qualities such as silky coats, etc.
