They really shouldn't even look away while the dog is restrained. My groomer is always right there with her eyes on the dog. Her assistant steps in if she has to move away at all. If neither can be right there they put the dog on the floor to play until they can get back to grooming.
We were at a local dog fair (all kinds of vendors where there) and one booth
was a groomer who was doing nail trims on the spot for $10. The booth was right in front of us as we walked in. The groomer was looking down at his finger and a medium sized dog was on the table with a groomer's noose on. The assistant was looking at the groomer's finger too. The dog (medium sized)
slipped off the table a bit and scrambled back on and the groomer and the assistant had no idea that anything had happened. This is the inattention they are willing to show to the public. I couldn't imagine what must happen in the privacy of their shop. Scary stuff. |
