We got a little Yorkie that had giardia and tapeworm too. The vet treated her three times, and I cleaned the yard like a madwoman. But we finally got rid of it. Never had it since.
My vet said it can come from anywhere....a bird flying over your fenced backyard can drop something that will have it and if your dog sniffs the dropping, it can get Giardia again! Goodness gracious. What next?
I just keep my yard very clean and wash down all bird droppings. No troubles that I know of since.
