My baby has a docked tail and I do love it but.....I was a vet tech for years and when they dock tails at 2-3 days old they clamp the tail and just cut it off. A little glue or suture at the end and that's that. No anesthesia and no painkillers because they are so young. (at least that's how it was done 10 years ago..maybe different now...)Those poor pups just scream and sream. I eventually refused to assist with tail docking (and cat declaws)..so I struggle with this. I would definatly if give a choice leave the tail..but my breeder shows and stays within the standard and I understand that. I love my breeder and would never buy from anyone else so that's a choice that I have to live with.
