The best time is before the first heat. If she is over 2 lbs. it's supposed to be OK. I was so scared to get Feather spayed I spent a lot of time looking for a Dr. who did minimally invasive spays and yesterday she was spayed and had her 9 retained baby teeth pulled. I am so thankful it is done. She seems to be having some pain in her mouth even with the pain meds but is doing well today. She, of couse did have a heat while I was waiting for her to gain more weight. Chances of mammary cancer increase with each heat
