Default We May Have to Rehome Logan :(

I have posted before about our housetraining woes with our 8-month old male Yorkie, Logan. I have housetrained dogs before and had not trouble, but it is not working this time.

I found a strict schedule to follow on-line, which requires a lot of crate time. With Logan being an energetic 8-month old puppy, keeping him in his crate for a good portion of the day leaves him with too much energy at night, and then he doesn't sleep through the night.

But even when I allow him some closely supervised playtime - about 15-20 minutes - after he potties outside, he STILL sometimes pees or poops inside the house. Just last night after I had taken him outside, we played "lightly" inside for about 15 minutes. I took him with me to the bathroom so that I could potty . As we were walking out of the bathroom, he stood on the carpet and peed!

Although we ring a bell, say "potty outside," and use the same door to go outside to potty, Logan has never given us any indication that he has to go potty outside. He doesn't stand by the door or do anything that would indicate he needs to go outside.

If he is not housetrained in 4 months - when he turns a year old - my husband says we will have to find a new home for him. We simply cannot keep a dog inside the house who pees and poops on the carpet. It will ruin our carpeting, and the house will start to smell badly.

This breaks my heart, but I understand.

IF we do have to rehome Logan, I would like to find a wonderful, caring, patient family for him - someone who does NOT hit dogs for any reason and a home without small children (Logan weighs only 3 lbs.). I will not put him on an airplane to get to his new home. It would have to be someone who is willing to drive to north Alabama to pick him up.

Is this a good forum to find a new home for a Yorkie?
