I kept having trouble using aol on firefox. Worked fine in internet explorer. I had to clear all my cookies & cache for aol to work again. But I've had to do it 2 or 3 times - which clears out all my built in files - so I hate that. But, Maybe that would work for you.
Google your problem -- someone out there has probably figured out a way to fix it
