Hi,
I'm new to the site but am excited about finding some new friends. My yorkie is 10 years old, he has been my faithful companion through many hard times, death, divorce, etc., so I'm really at a loss as to what to do about his seeming constant ear infections. About 4 years ago a new park was built across the street from my neighborhood. This area was a privately owned "farm type" acreage, so when they graded it up our neighborhood got infested with rats. That whole summer we had a terrible problem, and with the rats came fleas. Spike is of course an inside baby, but I do have a porch and he LOVES to be outside when I'm doing yard work, etc. and he got the rat fleas, his poor skin and ears are still not the same. The vet and I go through antiboitics like tic tacs every spring/summer and I feel soooo bad, but don't know what else to do. Does anyone else have a problem with their yorkie having a really bad reaction to fleas or ear infections? If so I'd love to hear what you have tried and had success with it.
Spring is our favorite time of year but we both cry because we know it's time for the antiboitics again. I love him so and would do anything to make it better, but have just run out of ideas.
Thanks so much
Spike
