It depends on your situation. There's a difference between crate training and confining your puppy when you can't be there. Crate training is to teach them bladder and bowel control. They should only be confined for short periods at first. If you have to leave your puppy for long periods of time you might want to buy an x-pen or puppy proof a room so you can put down pee pads. It's great you are taking the time to get everything figured out before you get your puppy. Good luck, I hope you find your perfect boy or girl soon!
