We use SA-8 detergent which works fine in our Kenmore front loaders. I love the children's clothes cycle -- I never have to spot treat now. It takes a little longer, but is so much easier.
The moldy smell we don't have. I leave the door of the washer open at the end of the day and it dries naturally overnight. It has a "cleaning" cycle, but we haven't had to use it yet.
With dog bedding and puppy laundry, I wash everyday. I'm so glad I have my Kenmore.
