We use a Chris Christensen 20 fusion pocket brush. We always spray either a conditioning spray on them or an anti-static spray, so they are wet not dry.
What kind of brush are you using now? Does she have any matts, because obviously those could hurt. Alot of dogs hate being brushed though, you could try giving her a treat or something to chew on while you are brushing her to distract her!
