I doubt you are really hurting her. She knows if she cries you will stop. Train her to take the brush, not the other way around. Kaba still isnt perfect with a comb. I give her multiple treats during combing and talk sweet to her the entire time. It might help to have a second set of hands until she calms down a bit. As far as a brush goes, I can't really help you. I use a straight tooth metal comb on her and it works for us but I know most people would recommend something else.
