I free feed my girls,, and use the same type stainless bowls,, but have used ceramic as well, no matter what,, Daisy does the same thing,, as if there is the BEST morsal at the bottom,, and that they all taste better off the floor, while the other 2 girls eat nicely from the bowl and dont want to eat off the floor,, I keep a doggie placemat under their food and water bowls and just pick up feed , put it back in the bowl thru the day, ,Daisy is 18 months and still does this daily, Cricket on the other hand will generally move her head/nose as if she is burying the food,, though not touching the food,, she has always done this and she's 27 months,, I say she's trying to bury it and save it for later,,lol
