The problem with scolding it that it can cause other unwanted behavior to occur, for example "poop eating". Dog's who have been "scolded" often start eating their poop in a way to avoid punishment. I don't know how old your dog is, but I think patience is the best thing. I usually set out a pad for pee, and a pad for poop, place mistakes on the pad for a day.
