Does anyone know if canine vaccines are given by weight or are they just a standard dose for any size dog? I brought Kiki in for her distemper vaccine last week (which she had a reaction to) but I noticed the vet didn't give the entire shot. Last year the vet told me he doesnt' give the entire dose for a small dog. Is it the same actual vaccine for every dog or does a larger dog get two syringes full of medication?
Kiki is due for her rabies and bortadella vaccines in the next month. We always space her vaccines out so she doesn't get them at the same time but I still worry. Is there some sort of dosing guideline by weight or does the vet just squeeze in as much as he wants by just looking at a dog's size.
Kiki is our first dog so I really have no idea about any of this.
Thanks.
