LOL! My Jamie did this ALL the time when he was eating kibble and he wouldn't eat all at once either. I switched him to raw a while back and it taught him real quickly that food was only available for 30 minutes 2 times a day (raw can't be left out). Now when I put his food down he gobbles it all up off a plate and I don't have to worry that he's getting enough to eat or counting his kibble. If he is staying with kibble I would definitely suggest a plate or perhaps a toy that you put his meals in and he has to play with it to get the kibble out a few at a time.
