Default Dominance issue

I believe when dogs act in this way that it is to do with dominance not new surroundings. #1.Sit on the couch with your bf and your dog. #2. Hand the dog to him with the dog facing away from you. #3. Have your bf place his hand firmly but gently on the dogs back and hold him there being sure not to let him escape until he just lays there calmly. #4. After that, have your bf slide your dog onto the couch beside him (bf in the middle, dog on the opposite side of him then you) and hold him down on his side by his shoulders. This makes you puppy see that this new "pack-member" is dominant over him and that he is not to be challenged. Try this method in different areas of the house. Hope this helps feel free to pm me for anything else.
