Good for you. Learning by doing is a great way to learn. I also taught myself to sew many years ago. Of course my mother was an excellent seamstress, so I could look at her things and take thought also. She had no patience to teach any of her children though.
Just keep practicing and soon, you will have a darling little wardrobe and have learned to fine tune your technique.
