I had a terrible experience with DirecTV. They did not tell me when I signed up that you have to pay extra for a service plan. A day after my dish warranty expired, my service went down. I was told it would cost $50 + parts for a service call, but if I want to sign up for a service plan they would be happy to do it for something like $10/month and a two year commitment to stay with the service. I also had a lot of problems with the installation that took months to resolve. Save your time, money and stress level and stick with cable. My local cable company offers a DVR service for about $5 a month and I love it. Very easy to use and no hassles, no commitments.
