I have two children (8 & 5) and also babysit full time for three children (ages 2,3 & 4). I also have two yorkies 5lbs and almost 6lbs. I never have any problems.
I think the most important thing is to set boundaries and stick to them. When I tell the children "Do not pick up the dog" I mean just that, if they make the choice to not listen they would get introuble for it...........I can honestly say, I have never had to repeat myself to any of them!
So from day one......set the guidelines and inforce them!
