They are called carpet beatles b/c they eat fabric, but you don't have to have carpets to have them. We have tile and hardwood and still have them. They are so tiny, the beetle themselves are like the size of a sesame seed, the larvae are even smaller and they are the ones that eat protein. They travel in the baseboards and molding and trim, so make sure to vacuum along those. Also they can come from birds or other wild life animals that can make into your house (roof, etc...)
After my spotings in my home, I have 'inspected' a few of my friends and family homes too and guess what, they have them as well. So pretty much everyone has them, they are just sooooooooooooooo small they do often go un-noticed. Keeping your house clean and 'dust bunny' free is really the best way to keep them at bay. |
