We've been dealing with these issues with Stella for the last few months, she scratches her neck, armpits, back legs and flanks (she plucked the hair out of)
This is what we have tried so far
oatmeal shampoo
Chlorpheniramine (antihistamine) reacted to with diahrrea *stopped*
Skin scrappings (no mites) they scrapped several areas
Relief Shampoo (bathe 2 x a week)
Relief Spray (use between baths) *stopped*
hydroxyine (antihistamine) allergic reaction to * stopped *
cephalexin (anti-biotic) 10 days
Sulf Oxy Dex shampoo ( 1x a week w/this and 1 x with Releif shampoo)
Atopica pills (cyclosporin) currently on
Genta Spray (mild steroid spray used directly on itchy areas) 7 day use only
and another 10 days of cephalexin
At this point the scratching has improved but she appears more lethargic...which I don't like. A wonderful YT member told me about Depo-Medrol which is a monthly injection which I'm going to talk with my vet about. |
