Never tried that but I can recommend you can reserve the books online before they come out and then when it comes in they hold it for you. I essentially read one of the big hard cover books a day and so it got too expensive, and consumed too much space for me. So I do the reserve and then I get the books almost as they are released. I always have something to read. You can usually put the hold up to a month or a bit more before the book is released in the stores.

Works great and what I do is I make a donation to the library as a way of paying for my books...so everyone wins.
