Ask you vet. When I mentioned this to the vet, she asked something about if he was raising his leg to urinate. When I said he was, she said he was ready. I had Nolee neutered at 7 months. I was soo worried about putting him to sleep, but he did great. That afternoon he was ready to eat, even though the vet said very little food, and drink. It was very had to keep him still.
