I had an AKC pup about 10 years ago, she was from a champion bloodline...then it turned out that she was actually the product of inbreeding and had all sorts of genetic problems that caused her to die a very very painful death.
Since then we've been going to a non-AKC breeder who follows all the AKC guidelines, does everything right, and has produced now her 3rd and final HEALTHY litter. Our vet was ASTOUNDED at how healthy and what a good temprament our little babe has. We're going back to that breeder because she does everything RIGHT and doesn't value the things we don't obsess about (papers champions etc.). Our breeder is not a backyard-breeder who does it to show her kids the miracle of life. She's very good at what she does and stays abreast of how to do things properlyunder supervision of the vet.
If you're doing everything right and your pups are healthy and guaranteed then you are a RESPONSIBLE breeder and that is, imho the most important thing. |
