We needed to be sure that ours wouldl use the pad because we spend a lot of time on the boat anchored out in the middle of no where. We wanted to be sure that we could have a way for him to go potty. He is really good with going outside also so we've been lucky and got the best of both worlds! My husband took him out at about 4 1/2 mos and he decided he needed to do his stuff and that was that!
