I don't see how it would be a problem since it only applies to dogs that have not been bred or shown. It would probably be a huge problem if show/breeding dogs could have their name changed, but I don't see why it would matter if someone changed their pet's name. Personally though I don't really see a point in it...it's just a registered name and why change it once its there? If they wanted to change their pet's call name, nothing was stopping them.
