Go for a walk. They can't hold it when they walk. I swear Loki is so proud of the fact that he could poop in the yard and 5 minutes later poop down the block. I mean, if you're going to spend 5 minutes in the yard just walk down the block. I promise, they can't hold it. Encourage them to sniff every few yards and they will go!!!
Once they start to get in the habit of going after dinner it will get better. We had this problem with Sammy and we just HAD to get her on a schedule. She still has accidents but very few now and it's usually because we give up after taking her out 10 times after dinner so it's not her fault.
There's nothing wrong with crating him for an hour after dinner and then trying. Just until he gets into a routine. Once he does it like 5 days in a row (and you make a huge deal about it) see if he asks to go out and go from there... |
