One reason people say to get it done around 6 months for males is because they have a tendency to start marking. We had Chip done at 8 1/2 months, but that was because he was extremely sick for awhile and we didn't want to get him neutered on top of being sick. He doesn't mark unless we are on a walk outside, then he'll do it maybe once or twice.

It can be a little dangerous putting a yorkie under anesthesia, but that is because they are so small. How big is your yorkie? Chip was 7ish lbs when we got him neutered.
