Ranger was the shy-guy in his litter, but loved to be cuddled. I was a little concerned about it because I know that the timid pups can sometimes be anti-social if not handled correctly. I got him at 12 weeks exactly and I took him EVERYWHERE (I mean everywhere- malls, stores, camping, work, etc.) and handed him off to everyone that I trusted.
As soon as he had all his shots I took him to all the pet stores and introduced him to all of my friend's dogs. While he had some anxiety at first when I handed him off to others, he now LOVES everyone and all dogs! My dog trainer was so happy because he is so social, a trait yorkies don't always have (mostly because of bad parenting).
If she is still shy when you bring her home, don't nurture the timidness, but praise her when she's accepting new situations. I guess that's the Ceasar Millan way and it sure worked for us!
I bet you can't wait for your new puppy!! Congratulations! |
