Like the others have said, never test the temperature with your hand. Hands can tolerate much higher temperature than the rest of the body. The forearm is good for testing temperature and always ere on the side of coolness, you won't give your puppy a cold if the water is too cool, you can seriously hurt him if the water is too hot. Be sure to buy a conditioner for your puppy, this is as important as shampoo because it conditions the skin as well as the hair. I like several different brands, but if your going to Petsmart one brand they carry is "Spa" by Groomax, they have different scents, I love the "Baby Fresh." I blow dry too with a quiet hair dryer.
