It could be a staph infection. My golden retriever has one right now and its like you described. She's on antibiotics now and it seems to be clearing up. I'm thinking she'll have to have another round though, because I don't think this round is going to kick it. Are there any pimple like bumps? That's what alerted me to take Jordan to the vet.
