Yes, there is pretesting Yes - I called a few vets (as I am thinking of switching) today to ask these questions. It is good that they are going to use the Isoflorane, but all the vets that I called, even the one I am at now, suggest doing a pre-surgical anesthesia test also. It determines whether or not they are allergic or can handle the Isoflorane as well as other chemicals or medicines that they will be using for the procedure. Around my area it's about $40 extra. But I think it would be wise to do this, especially since your little guy is only 3lbs.
It might safe a lot of heart ache by learning the hard way. Please consider taking the test. |
