$1000 is still a lot for a pet quality adult that isn't AKC registered - but that's just my opinion. It's your money, so your decision, but I would look for another breeder, one who follows better breeding practices. In my opinion, she's trying to scam other by using the term "teacup" and she's trying to scam you by charging you that much for an adult, non-AKC registered dog. With the money you're willing to spend, you can find a wonderful representation of the breed AND support ethical breeding.
